The shape of the roof and the slope of the roof are dependent on the climatic conditions, architectural and the type of covering used. Roofs in buildings with a height above 15 m above the ground level should have slopes enabling the drainage of water to internal drain pipes. In a detached building with a height of up to 4,5 m and the roof area to 100 m2, it is allowed not to make gutters and downspouts, provided that the eaves are properly shaped.

The layout of vertical and horizontal communication in the building should be adapted to the utility and evacuation needs and enable convenient transport of furniture and stretchers in a horizontal position. The usable width of the flight of stairs and landing in single-family houses is assumed at least 80 cm, while in multi-family buildings, these widths are: running 120 cm, landing 150 cm. The step height in single-family houses should not be taken greater than 19 cm, and in multi-family houses 17,0 cm.

The inclination of the flight of internal stairs should meet the condition determined by the formula

2h + s = 60 ÷ 65 cm, where h - step height, s - step width.
