Dry walls part 2

When arranging the stones of the brick wall, it is necessary to ensure not only good connection of the structure, but also about this, so that the facade of the wall has an aesthetic appearance. This can be ensured primarily by appropriate selection of the proportions of adjacent stones. Therefore, for example, large stones of the same shape and dimensions of the planes making up the fa├žade should not be built in side by side. Larger stones are usually built into the lower part of the wall.

If there are not enough stones to build the wall, the arrangement of which can provide a durable structure, then some of them can be bound with cement or cement-lime mortar. To maintain the character of the wall, the mortar is placed like this, so that it is not visible. Therefore, only deeper stones are bonded. Dry walls of not very reliable structure can be covered with a layer of mortar or concrete on the entire inner surface, thanks to which all stones are connected and the structure becomes more durable.

Dry walls are made to resemble natural rock walls and therefore they are perfect for introducing various rock plants to their surface.. This way, flower walls are created, which are always an attraction and a great decoration of the garden. Great value. the decorative effect of such low walls is obtained thanks to this, that all vegetation is perfectly exposed on the facade of the small wall. Plant roots developing in the crevices and behind the wall find enough nutrients and water, so that over time the plants can cover the entire surface of the wall.

When building flower walls, you need to leave holes in them, in which the plants will be planted. Most often they are made as 5-10 cm horizontal slots. The arrangement of plants on the facade cannot be accidental, just like the plants in the flowerbed, and therefore the slots should be arranged according to the prepared design. Each slot should be made with a significant slope towards the wall, which prevents the earth from falling out of its interior, and should be in contact with the ground behind the wall. The slots in the wall are left empty until they are filled with suitable soil before planting the plants.
