Ways of supplying water to the garden tank, part 1

There are different ways to supply water to the reservoir for filling and replenishing it. The simplest of them is to supply them with open watercourses flowing from the higher areas. Water can be used from such reservoirs. also lead through a specially made cable, its inflow may be continuous or shut off. Most often, however, garden tanks are filled from the water supply. Water sources can be different: it may be river water that is purified or not, water is pumped from other open water reservoirs or flows from various types of wells. If certain flora and fauna are to be kept in the tanks, they cannot be filled with water containing harmful impurities. However, it is important to emphasize the great importance of various animal and plant organisms living in water due to their natural cleansing capacity. It is known from experience, that maintenance of garden water tanks by artificial methods, by using various chemicals, filtering etc.. it does not provide the required cleanliness and leads to harmful biological degradation of the aquatic environment and adjacent terrestrial habitats. In addition, the settlement of various species of animals and plants in water reservoirs increases their attractiveness and fulfills important didactic and educational tasks.. Emptying the tanks, in which there is a rich flora and fauna, should be kept to a minimum, because the organisms present in the water are lost when the water runs off.

When designing the installation leading to the reservoir, it should be primarily taken into account: required amount of water, and therefore the type and sections (diameters) the lead wires, their place and depth of guidance, a way of draining or spraying water in a tank, valve placement points and the method of their opening and protection against unauthorized persons, as well as a method of protecting objects against low temperature.

The requirements for water drainage pipes when emptying the tank relate primarily to their sections and slopes, which should allow easy and quick emptying of the tank. Such lines are led out from the lowest points of the tank bottom, it is therefore necessary to prevent the entry of various run-off contaminants. For this purpose, appropriate meshes should be built at the inlet of these lines. Valves closing such lines should be easily accessible due to the need of periodic cleaning.
