Laying cork wall tiles

Laying cork wall tiles

Before gluing, make sure, whether the substrate is clean, dry and smooth. You have to unpack the tiles on 24 hours before the planned sticking, so that they can acclimatize. Nail the horizontal guide strip for the first row of tiles to the wall, draw a plumb line, then do the same, as for ceramic tiles.
After lubricating the wall with a special adhesive for cork cladding, glue the tiles, pressing their edges together. If there is a need to trim the tiles, you have to do it on a perfectly smooth surface. We make the cut with a sharp knife along a steel ruler.

If the tiles are unfinished, apply several layers of lacquer primer with a clean brush; thanks to this you will get an easy-to-clean surface. Before you apply the next layer, the previous layer must dry.

If you are lining protruding corners with cork tiles (e.g.. above the fireplace), you can strengthen the edge with a wooden lath.
