Trimming tiles into an irregular shape

Trimming tiles into an irregular shape

If you want to cut a shape in the tile, you need to outline it on the cardboard template and transfer it to the plate. And so, for example. wanting to cut the L-shape where the plate overlaps the light switch, you need to redraw the shape of the cut on the tile and make a deep cut along the marked lines. Next, on the part of the plate to be cut off, you must make a series of intersecting cuts. Then you can start removing unnecessary pieces with tile tongs or pliers. If you need to cut shapes with a width less than 1,2 cm, you have to use a special glaze saw. Where the tile overlaps the pipe, cut it in half and use pliers to cut a semicircular hole in both, possibly handle the ball.

Cutting out the shape of the letter L

1 Use a ball for tiles, or make a template, draw the cutting lines on the plate and make the incisions. Cut deep with a cutter, piercing the glaze layer.
2 Then make a series of cross cuts on the piece to be cut and break it off piece by piece. Align at the cut lines, then sand the edges.
